Good day listeners, readers and passers by,
I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was nice, painfully warm, but nice. I have found that the Nashvillian summer and I have a hard time agreeing with one another. In fact, we are quite at odds. Almost every time I step outside into the steamy marshland that is June I find myself shaking a fist into the sky and shouting out random words and phrases such as “Why!?” and “How did it come to this!?”. In its defiant and unsympathetic response, summer, with a blast of thunder like the bellowing laughter of a German butcher, releases yet another downpour of hot, sticky rain upon my head. And for some reason, during these moments of uncomfortable defeat, I crave a frozen banana. Like the ones George Micheal sells in that banana stand on that show Arrested Development. I love those things.
Now, I feel as though I am painting my weekend with too dark a color. When I was able to find solace from the blazing sun things were great. I read, I wrote, I hung out with friends, I even caught the latest shreck movie. Many of you may think I’m a dork because of this, but I really liked it. There’s just something endearing about Pinnochio carrying around the gingerbread man in a baby carrier.
Anyway. It’s monday again, which means it’s time to get back to work. We’re tracking some more guitars today, among other things.

See, there’s me, tracking a guitar. The recording process is nearing completion, and I can’t wait to start showing all you guys what we’ve been doing. As the release date draws nearer (September 4th 2007) we’ll be leaking some tunes out here and there on my myspace and here on this blog. So stay tuned. I’ll talk to you all later. Have a great day.

Hey there Phil- I know humidity can reek havioc on a hairdo, but I must say that yours still looks as fine as ever, dispite the tempramental weather. I agree with what someone before me wrote, that you should not be wearing long pants in all that heat- lets see some shorts in the next bloggie video- what do you say? I will look forward to that- as much as I am looking forward to your new record & seeing you in November at the 9:30 Club in Wash, DC. 11/11/07 can not come soon enough! Thanks for sharing your talent, passion & love for the Lord- Keep it coming!!!
Its calling for scattered storms next week at creation east… was hoping to get some help with praying for blue skies!!
Its my first time attending and have really been feeling Him preparing my heart for next week. My boyfriend and I are driving 10 hours (and im camping for the first time ever, ahh!!) so we would be super bummed if it was cancelled. We are so excited to see your performance for the first time as well. I think we,ve been counting down the days since Feb.
Hope we get to see you soon!
i cant wait man. youre the best around.
Cheese and rice, you actually read your comment things! Kudos to you:) Oh I just wanted to comment back and say THANKS for reading my blog and commenting, all my friends freaked out cause I got a message from you on my incredibly lame blog. So I just want to thank you, it really meant alot. You are in my prayers, may God bless your socks off! Peace and chicken grease!
Whoa, that was a good post. Such emotion. You are a good writer. The word ‘captivating’ from just a couple comments up says it right.
I enjoy writing what some may call poetry very much. Being a guitarist, I wish that I could put it to music, but I never have been able to. If you happen to be bored and read this, I post some of what I write on thejambi.wordpress.com. If you check it out, let me know what you think.

Looking forward to and praying for the new cd…
“Holy Spirit of God, visit now this soul of mine, and tarry within it until the eventide. Inspire all my thoughts. Pervade all my imaginations. Suggest all my decisions. Lodge in my soul’s most inward citadel, and order all my doings. Be with me in silence and in my speech, in my haste and in my leisure, in company and in solitude, in the freshness of the morning and the weariness of the evening. Give me grace at all times to rejoice in Thy mysterious companionship. “–John Baillie
haha funny. mann i can tell why you’re such a good writer now- you made an overview of your weekend sound so captivating. haha. you should try frozen strawberries and blueberries- they’re good too.
It tis hot where I am too. I lived here all my life so I guess I am use to it. Your lcky when you came to my stae it wasn’t summer, I don’t think you’d like it. Anyways, I rather think of something cold, like icecubes stuck on the back of the freezer. Yes! That’s it! But, seriously, I think your so coll that the icecubs in my freezer are jealous, I just think they do like to admit defeat. I love your music, and the way you so strongly believe in God. Your a great rolemodel for all. Keep it up!
P.s. Do you like frozen chocolate?
Heya Phil
You dont know HOT weather till you experience the weather in Singapore! Anyway, just wanted to let you know that you have fans even in Singapore and we’re all hoping that you could come down to perform some time soon
Keep at what you’re doing cos it’s really helping people get closer to God.
God bless You.
Hey Phil,
God Bless you, Phil!
I’ve been enjoying your blog since I stumbled across it a few days ago. I think it is so great that you personally keep your fans updated and take the time to blog. I have also been listening to your first album in my car non-stop for the past few days, and I ordered your current album online a few days ago. I keep eagerly checking the mail for its arrival. I can’t wait for your new album to come out in September as well! I have liked your voice and your music for sometime now, but it has been growing on me even more lately. You are coming to Medford in August and I am planning on going to your show…I’m stoked! Thanks for your great music, you glorify the Lord in every song, and that is pretty rare in the music business these days. Keep up the GREAT work! And by the way, the gingerbread man is my favorite Shrek character…with Pinnochio coming in a close second
Hey Phil,
This is my first time on your blog. I know you get tons of comments and everyone probably says about the same thing, but just wanted to let you know I love your music. The first time I heard “Divine Romance” on the radio I went nuts trying to find how I could get a hold of the album! Thanks for making such awesome music! You’re very talented.
Oh and I loved Shrek too and my grandma would freeze bananas every summer (born and raised in West Palm Beach, FL) so I understand your craving for them. God Bless you!
I love your music. It is amazing, original, and fresh. I also love the production that goes into your stuff. It is really good quality. I am going to see you down in cincinatti in november with dcb and the myriad and I am indredibly pumped. I work at a bookstore and try to sell your cd to everyone looking for music.
Oh and the new blog is great. I love it when artists have them and let us see what goes on behind the scenes. So keep it up!
Oh man, me and Phil can’t be the only ones here that watch Arrested Development.
:knuckles:
Amazing, simply amazing!
I stumbled upon your blog and it made me laugh so hard I snorted (ya i don’t have the best of laughs) but regardless it brought me joy! Keep up the good blogging! If you ever need a laugh my life is can be wuite entertaining, i invite you to check out my blog….http://tanlikethehoff.blogspot.com/
Hasta Pasta!
Hi Phil!
So, I will be hanging out with you a bit in Europe during August with the whole Calvary Chapel group! I am so looking forward to it! I just finished Calvary’s School of Ministry so I will be staying three months in Hungary for my internship there. It will be an amazing time!
Have a beautiful glorious day! And don’t die in the heat!
Ha! Frozen bananas are quite good I must agree! I remember getting a chocolate covered frozen banana at the fair when I was younger and boy were they yummy!
Your friend and sister in Christ,
Amanda ;D
Nashville weather is pretty gross in the summer. It can be rather bipolar in general throughout the year. Last year I just had to keep reminding myself that it would be winter soon enough. This spring in Nashville was actually quite weird weather-wise. One day I walked out of my dorm with a friend and it was a randomly hot day. I said out loud, “Hey God, you want to turn down the universal thermostat?” The next week it rained or was in like the 50s. haha I thought it was great. The next time I said that same thing my friend was like “Be quiet! Remember what happened last time?”
Frozen bananas are good.
P.S. You are insane to wear jeans in that humidity.
I’m still wondering how a donkey and dragon have babies??…
Haha, oh my. This entry really made me laugh. I find that despite your devoted heart toward God as illustrated through your music, somewhere within the midst of all this you have a wonderful sense of humor! I mean seriously, I could totally see your frustrations with the Nashville weather while you shake a fist at the sky (not that your frustrations are funny, well, you know what I mean) longing for say, San Diego weather??!
September 4th has a new reason to be excited!!!!!11111!!111oneoneone!!
Oh…P.S. So since you’ve seen Shrek the Third, perhaps you would agree with me on this, was it just me, or was Merlin’s BIRKENSTOCK SANDALS AND SOCKS awkwardly hilarious?
hmmm…there was one day when i wanted a frozen banana dip in chocolate, but when i bit into it, it wasnt as good as I thought it was going to be…haha..thats alright though..i ate the whole thing still!..keep on coming with the music phil, your doing great! God Bless!
josh
Hi Phil! So you saw Shrek the Third? Haha, I must be a dork too, because I was cracking up through the whole movie. It was so funny! =)
i think oceans 13 & harry potter should be next on the list.
Phil you Rock! Keep writing love songs to our Lord… we are so blessed! Greetings from CC South Denver, CO. We’re praying for you!
Phil I was very happy to have found your blog. Your music has blessed my life along with my wife’s. In fact, we had a friend learn Divine Romance and play it as she walked down the aisle. I’m not sure how that makes you feel, but thank you. I am eagerly waiting the new album!
Hey Phil,
Thanks for the comment. I figuered that you probably wouldn’t reply , but it turnes out that you don’t have any ‘kapsones’ (as we would say in Dutch). At least not yet
My brother lives in San Jose, and I just heard that it’s almost a 12 hour drive to San Diego! Is that true? The US is way too big. I could drive to Spain in 12 hours, but you guys wouldn’t even left the State by then!
I’ll try to look up if you will have a show a bit closer by, around the end of July / beginning of August. But unfortunately, I’m not too familiar with all those American city’s, so that doesn’t make it any easier. But I’ll do my best.
Bye, Mirjam
now i’m curious about this frozen banana thing…..
