Over the last few years it’s been an amazing thing to see how the songs I’ve been writing in my little bedroom have made their way into peoples lives all over the place. Being the occasional YouTube browser that I am, I’ve been able to see evidence of this firsthand. Whether it be a young student in their dorm room, or a Hungarian church congregation it’s always an honor and a blessing to literally see and hear how these songs are touching peoples lives. So I thought, “Hey, I should share some of these awesome videos with my blog friends.” So from now on, we here at philwickham.com, will be posting a “Cover Of The Month” video, or more simply put, videos of you doing Phil Wickham songs.
So grab your guit-fiddle and belt out a tune into that little mic on your video camera, upload it to YouTube, with the the words “Phil Wickham Cover” and the name of the song, and I will find it.Below is the first one, of many. I look forward to hearing and seeing what you guys come up with. Enjoy.
So there it is. Let’s see what else we can come up with.
This is my buddy Jeremy. He sings in an awesome band called The Myriad. They recently were awarded MTV2’s Breakout Band Of The Year. We ate orange chicken together.
Jeremy lives in Redding, where I played a show last night, so I’m glad we were able to meet up. There was also someone at the table who ate two full tablespoons of butter for three dollars and twenty three cents. Gross.
Anyway check out The Myriad. I toured with them last fall and we had an amazing time. Great guys and now great friends.
I was just flipping through the pictures on my phone and saw these couple photos of me and a buddy Nick at a youth camp outside of Tyler, Texas a few weeks ago. Have I ever mentioned that I love forest playgrounds? And almost as much as I love forest playgrounds, I love tire swings that are often found in said forest playgrounds.
I had a great time at the camp, got to meet a ton of cool people and hope to come back sometime soon. Thanks for having me.
Okay, here it is like I promised. Here’s the first ten songs that came up for me.
Prophecy- Remy Zero I’m sad this band isn’t making music anymore Demo of After Your Heart- Me from when I was writing it Romulus- Sufjan Stevens Yes! One of my favorites of his Sing For Absolution- Muse Mmmmhm Honey and the Moon- Joseph Aurthur I’m glad this guy came up. I love this record but its hard to find other people who know it. Keep The Car Running- Arcade Fire All day long Awaken The Dawn- Delerious? I forgot about this one. Such a good worship song Proof- Coldplay A nice little b-side Grazed Knees- Snow Patrol I gotta be honest, not my favorite of their’s Samskeyti- Sigur Ros A perfect ending
Well, there it is. Thanks for playing. Have a great weekend.
I know there are probably several different musical tastes represented here on this blog, and it got me thinking. I want to know what you people are listening to. So here’s the game. Are you ready?
Go to your ipod, (or other MP3 musical listening device) and put it in the “shuffle” mode. Then go into the comments and share the first ten songs that your ipod (or other MP3 musical listening device) will be playing. No cheating here. It has to be the first ten songs. Type in the artist name and song name.
I’ve never read this magazine before a recent trip to Texas. In fact I never have really even heard of it. Now that its in my hands I think I want to be a scientist.
Did you know you could send electricity through the air!? Some how I have to wonder about the health benefits of that though. I mean I’m not too sure I want to be walking through my house with all sorts of electricity flying around me. Either way I’m sure someday they will come up with a great way to charge my laptop without having to be sitting near a wall.
Welcome to the new philwickham.com. Take some time to look around. It’s pretty basic here, but clean and efficient. I’m excited to have this new fancy looking blog to share with you many things.
