“FOOL’S WISDOM”
Malcolm & Alwyn

Got myself some wisdom from a leather back book
Got myself a Savior when I took a second look
I opened up the pages and what did I find
A black and white portrait of a king who’s a friend of mine
Funny how when you think you’re right everybody else must be wrong
Till someone with fools wisdom somehow comes along
His voice was strange and the words he said I didn’t quite understand
Yet I knew that He was speaking right by the leather back book in his hand
Hey Hey what a day! Fools Wisdom
Hey Hey what a day! Fools Wisdom
Got myself some wisdom from a leather backed book
Got myself a savior when I took a second look

A few decades back there were a handful of bands and artist who pioneered what we have come to know as contemporary christian music. With their simple and sincere faith artists and bands like Keith Green, Larry Norman, Love Song, Parable (of whom my parents were members) and many others drew up the maps to what was then uncharted territory. Now, years later, I believe much can still be learned from the examples they set both in lifestyle and in art. The song “Fool’s Wisdom” by the artists Malcolm & Alwyn is one of my favorite songs from that era. The great amount of quality and honesty that it holds in it’s lyrics and melody seem hard to come by now a days. I love singing it. I hope you like listening to it.

Phil, that’s one timeless song! I remember hearing that song as an intro to a late night Bible study on KWAVE a long time ago… (I think it might have been Mike Macintosh… not sure) while rocking my first born baby at night :0)
It’s so refreshing to hear it sung again :0)

BTW, my daughter Susannah was reading your concert schedule and is trying to get a group up for the Temecula concert at Rancho Community Church this coming Sunday. I hope we can make it out!

    Blessings, Angela

Excellent Phil, just excellent. I love that you don’t find older music to be passé. It bugs me when people dis music that like that. Sure, sometimes they need an update, but the lyrics and melody are timeless.

    Ah yes.

I greatly admire what those pioneers have done, and love being part of it in some small way. I remember walking away from a mini-festival where Petra “headlined” (we were there for a friend’s band) and thinking how much history they have made. 80s hair bands aren’t exactly my style, but I can certainly appreciate their legacy.

    Nicely done, Phil.

So funny to hear someone else sing that song. Malcolm is the senior pastor at Calvary Merritt Island. He’s still got the hair and the love for Jesus

    Hello Phil!
I just wanted to know what kind of guitar you are sporting. I am currently looking for an acoustic cutaway, but I can’t find one. It turns out I need a smaller guitar for my body frame. I really love yours though, and wanted to know the make. Great song…it made me smile. (o: Much love..

You know, that song is pretty important to my family because around 35 years ago, my mother was searching for God everywhere, and this song is the one that set her on the right path. It’s nice to see someone closer to my age enjoying the Jesus Music :)

Wow!! Please make that a song on your next album! What a wonderful melody and the lyrics are incredible. I think a lot of people, including myself are not as familiar with classic CCM and this would be a great tribute to some of CCM’s original artists.
