    Thanks Phil! I starting learning guitar a couple of years ago and then kinda stopped. After seeing you at Frenzy, you really inspired and encouraged me to just pick it up again! I’ve already learnt ‘Cannons’ as that is probably the easiest for me to play and sing. I’m hoping to learn some more. So thanks again Phil. The way you do the videos just makes it so much easier for poeple like me (who haven’t played guitar in aaaaaages) to pick it up, start again and play some amazing songs!

    Thank you so much for these.. I have a spanish acoustic guitar so I will see if I can get it to sound good playing that song.. It sounds different then the classical acoustic guitars.. :)

    Also when you have a chance do you think you could do the HOME song like this.. I would apperciate it so much..

    Phil, thank you so much for seeing the importance of blogging, I have learned so much from this video, not to mention the great song!…I have been searching for a bm variation for the longest for smoother chord transitions. Now I get to use this and engage others in a worship experience like no other, thanks and continue to be used by God.

    Thank you so much for making this video!!! I’m a fairly new fan. The first time I ever heard your music was on a friends blog who had posted the video of you playing True Love live in studio with Digital Resources Delivered…Its been my favorite song ever since. I love that version of the song more than any other because you play it (in that video) with so much emotion, its just so powerful to me.
    Anyways, I’ve been dying to learn it ever since I heard it, but on that particular video you use different fingering and I haven’t been able to figure it out. So thank you so much for making it easier!!! Oh! Good luck, and may God bless your upcoming marriage!

    Phil, I love your music and how meaningful it is. I like Switchfoot, but their music is usualy about the worlds problems, not about God and the Gospel. Thanks for the chords; I realy wanted to learn them! You are probably my favorite musician, becuase of your love for God and showing it in your music.

    is the version I usually look to. He uses DADGAD tuning (and then tuning it down another half step)..but you’re only asking about the strumming pattern.

    In the link I sent (and probably this one) I hear

    123 123 12 - 123 123 12

    in a series of repeated down strums. In the beginning he’s half muting the strings with his strumming hand, so it sounds like he’s only playing one or two strings, however this is not so.

    I hope this helps, and if you wanna learn how to play it in DADGAD tuning, the way he truly plays it (provided his preceding song in a concert isnt in normal tuning), just message me.

    What i meant by

    123 123 12

    was that 1’s are the accented strums followed by the other 2.

    Also, some choruses (but you can do it for all of them) he changes his pattern to

    D 1 2 3 4 5 6 7-8-9-10
    D/F# 1 2 3 4 5 6 7-8-9-10
    B 1 2 3 4 5 6 7-8-9-10
    A 1 2 3-4-5-6
    G 7 8 9-10-12-13

    with the numbers without dashes being powerful downstrums, and the quadruplet numbers being down-up-down-up, all falling right before the chord changes. ..He may also just have the shorter, down-up version at the very end of the chord instead of the longer quadruplet down-up-down-up (this down-up pattern also goes for the second verse).

    ..Sorry if I went a little overboard but haha..happy to help!
