Hey all,
The record is coming along nicely, and things seem to be falling into all the right places. About a month back I was going through the list of songs that will be on the album, and I felt like the ending one hadn’t been written yet. I wanted a sweet and simple song that would act as a period at the end of a sentence of songs that largely focus on eternity. So I wrote this one. It’s called Heaven Song.

I’m in tears… My little brother Chris(who was only 19) passed away almost 8 months ago and all i can think about is being in front of the gates to heaven, Being able to go in, Be with God and see my brother again! This song wrenches at my heart and makes it harder to be here on earth because we all know how amazing it will be to be with the lord and see people we love so much that we’ve lost. It’s just so beautiful and helps me envision heaven, Thank you Phil.

Hey Phil… it’s Krista from Tulsa (from The Gathering… and your bday dinner at Chang’s)! I was just reading about the topic of your upcoming album, and I was wondering if you read C.S. Lewis. He has a whole chapter called “Heaven” in his book “The Problem of Pain.” It talks about the fact that we were each created for Heaven and to be present with God… “But God will look to every soul like its first love because He is its first love. Your place in heaven will seem to be made for you and you alone, because you were made for it – made for it stitch by stitch as a glove is made for a hand.” (Lewis)
