Guest Blogging

Hey everyone,
I’m Mallory, Phil’s wife. As many of you may know, Phil is going out on tour with Leeland and Matt Maher this spring. We are really excited about this tour, and we would love to keep you updated on what is going on while we are on the road. Because Phil has so much on his plate, he has asked me to temporarily take over the job of blogging.

I have to admit, the thought of guest blogging for Phil is quite a daunting and intimidating task. I never write anything, unless Facebook status updates count, which trust me, mine don’t. To be honest, I’m not really even a blog reader, except for the occasional girly types of blogs on clothes, decorating, or cooking (Ewe. Did that sound too stereotypical of me? Sorry. I cant help it, I like that stuff!).

So now that you are all aware of my lack of experience in this area, I have a question for all you Phil Wickham blog following people: What do you want from this blog?! What do you want to read about? Do you want me to pick Phil’s brain about a certain song? Post a video of the night? Or a picture?! Talk about what we had for dinner? Or how we had to take showers in a basement with cockroaches?

Hopefully with your help (and trust me, I desperately need it), we can make this fun and interesting. Basically, I want to give you the power over this blog (oohh you like the idea of that don’t you!?). It will make it easier for me, and it will allow me to provide you with the content you actually want. So please don’t be a stranger, and right now, if you’re reading this, comment and let me know what my next post should be about.

Ok, I’m really sick of typing/seeing the word “blog” so I’m going to finish this post. See you soon!
-Mallory

I personally love videos of Phil simply playing his guitar and singing…like in his living room or something. That would be awesome!

would love to hear about his thoughts on some of the songs on Give You My World and if he ever plans to re-record those on future releases.

Sounds great Mallory! I love seeing clips from shows – Phil is so great live. It would be great to see him doing some of his new stuff at his shows. Thanks!

Where this blog goes I will follow. I don’t typically read blogs but this is one that I will most likely follow!

I want to say that I love this new CD

I cannot stop listening to it and I have been brought to tears because of the beautiful imagery of the lyrics and the worship!! Right now I especially love Heaven Song. Though I love a different one every time i listen to it!

We are looking forward to bringing some of our middle school students to the concert at Rolling Hills Church in portland Oregon!!

    Hey Mallory,

Your post made me think about my wife, Emily, and I. When I’m leading worship or playing a show, she helps me with SO MUCH! I don’t know what I’d do without her. Phil is blessed to have a wife willing to help him and support him and be a teammate in his passion and ministry. Well…Emily says it’s part of her ministry with me too, so I suppose it’s your ministry as well! :)

It would be fun to hear about your interactions, insights, fun moments, ministry conversations together. Backstage vids with random tidbits of info are always fun- like most of the other comments have said.

We’ll see you later this month in NorCal near Sacramento!

    Blessings,
    Seth

  8. Miguel Andrés says:

And I would like to say —even being a little bit late— » Happy birthday Phil!! (I remembered it because it’s my birth-day too, lol)
Please, tell him, he’s a great blessing to all of us. He has been so blessed with you Mallory, haha. By the way, all the best to you all. This tour is going to be awesome. God bless you guys!

on tour videos and pictures are always fun to view. I love reading about on road experiences artists have that relate to their relationship with God. A certain moment that touched their hearts or a devotional they read or a scripture that stood out to them that day… I think you’re an excellent blogger, your words definitely drew me in. :) Blessings to you.

  10. Erica P says:

Mallory, dear, I already love you! :) You can talk about or post any of those things (videos are always fun to see) and we will all be quite happy!
Thanks for agreeing to keep us up-to-date with all that is going on in your and Phil’s life on the road!
Looking forward to having you in Denver next week! :)

  11. skylar says:

i think, mostly we just want to hear how it’s going on the road. how can we pray for you? what was last night’s show like? stuff like that.

and your writing seems perfect – you’re a real person! we’re looking forward to it, and to the tour!

  12. Steve says:

I would love to hear what CD you guys are currently obsessed with!

(Heaven and Earth doesn’t count as it is universally accepted as awesome.)

  13. Jenna says:

I love to hear about home-life stuff, and how singers come up with their songs and their process of writing. I like hearing about funny incidents on the road, and just generally what is happening along the way! Great job, would love to read anything either of you would have to write :)

  14. cal says:

for what it’s worth, i’m always interested in weird/random food stops along the tour routes. i love learning about a place’s culture through their local foods!

  15. Laura says:

Thanks Mallory for taking the time to blog on Phil’s behalf!! I’m sure everyone would agree that you’re a really good writer… great balance of humour & info (must be a natural talent!).
Um, as far as content goes, it’d definitely be wonderful to hear stories & perhaps short videos/excerpts from the tour. Leeland & Phil are two of my favourite Christian artists & being in Perth, Australia, I have never had the opportunity to see either of them (thank goodness for youtube!!). It will be a blessing to read/see anything really!!
Thanks again Mallory & Phil, not only for being open to our feedback but also for your ministry. God’s doing amazing things in & through you guys… it’s exciting to await what’s ahead. All the best for the tour!!

  16. Miki says:

The fun behind the scenes is always great! It keeps fans remembering how performers are just regular people like all the rest of us. Being on tour is almost like being at youth camp together….lot’s of fun pranks happen and you get to know people that you otherwise wouldn’t have time to spend like you do on tour with. Blog about the new friendships, the funny pranks, and even the writing that goes on during the l-o-n-g bus drives. :)

  17. From now on if you DONT include having to take showers in a creepy basement with cockroaches the blog will be a fail. Pics are good if you can use it to tell a short story. Videos are good once in awhile too.

I would love to hear stories about how God is using the ministry. Testimonies of changed lives, people you get to pray with, people you get to influence through music, and Gods Word.

He can even set out to have goals in each city. Have a few kids from a youth group meet him backstage to talk about what they can do for their church or community.

All of this may be to much for Phil, but not with your help Mal! I’m also thinking Mal needs to be on twitter to keep us all in the loop of this whole operation.

  18. Tiffany says:

hmmm … funny pictures, stories behind songs, road videos … but I would love to hear your take on the messages of the song also :)

  19. Jesse Thomas says:

Maybe some improv singing in those videos? “And I’ll, .. read this this blog in the homes of the broken, read this blog unto the world!”…. Or some real tunes, …you know what I mean.

  20. Jim says:

I would appreciate the tour coming to the Northeast/New England. Sightings of Phil & company are “few and far between”. Please consider it! How would would you like to do a benefit fund-raiser for a Christian School in Southern Maine???

  21. Barbara says:

Is Phil still in Tulsa? Good restaurants: Polo Grill, Lucky’s, Garlic Rose.

  22. Jonathan says:

    Hi Mallory,

I think it would be great if either you or Phil can share your guys’ insights and anything along the lines of spiritual epiphanies, kind of like journals… share how God was great in your life that day. That would be helpful for me.

    thanks!

  23. Adele says:

I would love to see videos of Phil with Leeland & Matt talking about the tour/You interviewing them about their experiences on the tour/funny stories on the tour. That’d be amazing! : )

  24. Phil Wickham says:

This post is so good Mal!
Good job. I’m Excited about this!
