I Crave A Frozen Banana

Good day listeners, readers and passers by,

I hope you all had a lovely weekend. Mine was nice, painfully warm, but nice. I have found that the Nashvillian summer and I have a hard time agreeing with one another. In fact, we are quite at odds. Almost every time I step outside into the steamy marshland that is June I find myself shaking a fist into the sky and shouting out random words and phrases such as “Why!?” and “How did it come to this!?”. In its defiant and unsympathetic response, summer, with a blast of thunder like the bellowing laughter of a German butcher, releases yet another downpour of hot, sticky rain upon my head. And for some reason, during these moments of uncomfortable defeat, I crave a frozen banana. Like the ones George Micheal sells in that banana stand on that show Arrested Development. I love those things.
Now, I feel as though I am painting my weekend with too dark a color. When I was able to find solace from the blazing sun things were great. I read, I wrote, I hung out with friends, I even caught the latest shreck movie. Many of you may think I’m a dork because of this, but I really liked it. There’s just something endearing about Pinnochio carrying around the gingerbread man in a baby carrier.

Anyway. It’s monday again, which means it’s time to get back to work. We’re tracking some more guitars today, among other things.

See, there’s me, tracking a guitar. The recording process is nearing completion, and I can’t wait to start showing all you guys what we’ve been doing. As the release date draws nearer (September 4th 2007) we’ll be leaking some tunes out here and there on my myspace and here on this blog. So stay tuned. I’ll talk to you all later. Have a great day.

Interactive Learning

Yesterday, as I was fulfilling my semi-daily duty of getting back to a new slew of online messages/comments, I came across yet another message from a listener who was requesting the chord charts for a song of mine called “Divine Romance”. As I read this humble yet forceful young man’s message I leaned back in my chair and exhaled a sigh that could be heard down the hall. Don’t get me wrong, in no way was I frustrated with the writer of this request. In fact, even the hundreth time getting one of these requests still rose up in me a certain sense of pride and accomplishment. The sigh was more of contemplation than anything else. You see, there are at least four websites that I can think of off the top of my head that would have exactly what this young man desired. Yes, there would be tab options, note options, chord options, transposing options, font, size, color…, but he came to me, just like the hundreds of others before him. So I leaned back in my chair, I sighed, I put my hands behind my head, and I thought.
“How can I solve this problem once and for all?” I asked myself. “It needs to meet the needs of the people but still be fun and unique.” Then it dawned on me. Two words that will change my blog, and possibly, the world forever.
“Interactive Learning”
So I created this video below. Mind you this is the first one. An experiment, if you will. In later “Interactive Learning with Phil Wickham” videos there will be guitars and singing, and maybe even some cameo appearances. So get out your guitars. Sit up. And let’s make some ROCK!

I Just Became A Sailor

So here’s the deal,
I’ve spent the last four weeks of my life in a studio in east Nashville. Some wonderful people ad I have been investing and immersing ourselves wholly and heartily into twelve songs that will soon comprise my second record that is tentatively named “Cannons”. It’s been quite a rewarding process. One which I am sure I will expound on in a later blog. But for now I will leave you with a photo. I wanted to clear my mind one day of all the sounds and songs, so I took a little trip on a boat.

I’ve always liked boats.
